River Scan Challenge 2024 - Team 3 [Barangay Tingub]

Description

The River Scan Challenge is an initiative that focuses on assessing the environmental conditions and the quality of life found within communities near the Butuanon River. This event is spearheaded by the University of San Carlos, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, and Cebu Leads Foundation, Inc.

Barangay Tingub has been grappling with a significant garbage problem which has impacted the quality of life of the residents and the river near the their vicinity. The accumulation of waste has given rise to sanitation issues and has caused an increase of pollution near and in the river.

This project aims to lessen the pollution and improve the air quality of Barangay Tingub by providing an easier alternative to garbage disposal through an idea called "The Cable Can".
