Green Residences Project for Fire Victims 2 (under construction) - Tipolo Barangay, Mandaue City

Description

This green residences project is the first of its kind in the Philippines, built for the victims of a large fire in informal settlements who are now housed at the former Mandaue Convention Center. The project is to be opened in May or June, with the president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. planning to visit.

The building is considered a "Green building" because no AC will be used for cooling. Instead, green walls will be added (greenery will be allowed to grow on metal grates). Water will also by conserved, for example by means of little sinks above the toilet water tanks, so that this water can be reused. The project is donated by Cebu Landmasters and will be operated by the City of Mandaue, who will only be charging 1500 PHP per studio (fit for one family), or about 25 EUR.
