Mangrove Forest North Patch - Mandaue City

Flood Barrier

Created at: 20 Apr 2024

Description

This mangrove forest is a natural flood barrier for the highly urbanized Mandaue City. Mandaue City, located in the Metro Cebu area, is the city with the largest area of mangrove forest in the Philippines. This particular forest is the north patch, located in the Jagobiao, Basak and Labogon Barangays. A south patch is located in the Paknaan Barangay.

This mangrove forest should be 152 Hectares, according to the Mandaue City zoning. However, as seen in the pictures, the actual size is much smaller due to various developments and Informal Settler Families (ISF).
