Climate Adaptive Green

Created at: 29 Jul 2022

Description

In 2011 Copenhagen suffered from a immense rainfall of 200 mm in 1,5h. To adept Copenhagen and its suburbs took many measures. In Ishøj the railway company had to compensate the city for the the removed trees for the new railway. This made is possible to combine the compensation with the climate adaption goals.

In total 26 ha of forest (100.000 trees) and 3 ha of surfacewater is realised. The municipality expects that the new plantation and water feature will help adapt Ishøj Landsby to a future with heavier rain and more unpredictable weather.

The amount of created water storage amounts to 16.000 kubic meter.
